What is the Coral Reef Rescue Initiative?

The Coral Reef Rescue Initiative (CRRI) is turning climate-resilient reefs into seed banks for the oceans of tomorrow. Connected by ocean currents, these 'regeneration reefs' have been scientifically selected to help breathe life into other reefs in the future.

CRRI is focusing resources to solve local threats and support the strategic regeneration of these coral reefs in locations where climate variables are least impactful – around 70% of climate-resilient coral reefs can be found in just 7 countries:

  • Fiji
  • Indonesia
  • Madagascar
  • Philippines
  • Solomon Islands
  • Tanzania
  • Cuba

Combining global effort with local impact, CRRI is working to deliver inclusive, equitable and sustainable nature-based solutions to the coral reef crisis.

What is the Knowledge Hub?

The Knowledge Hub is a space for knowledge sharing, training and connecting with others. It is where CRRI stakeholders can share experiences, case studies, tools and advice, while also training via a variety of online and accessible educational courses. Our goal is to support the diverse range of communities of practice needed to protect climate-resilient coral reefs and promote sustainable development in coastal communities.

Partners
